PELLA - Johanna Mae Hackert, 83, of Pella, died Tuesday, June 19, at Pella Regional Health Center in Pella.

Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Third Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev. John Van Den Berg and the Rev. Robert Schuring officiating. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Visiting hours begin 11 a.m. Thursday at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella, with family present 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials: Third Reformed Church Nursery.

Johanna Mae Vandenberg was born Jan. 10, 1918, south of Pella to Gerrit J. and Christena Goemaat Vandenberg. She lived in Pella most of her life.

She married Henry Hackert, and was a farm wife. She enjoyed tending her garden and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Third Reformed Church in Pella.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Joyce Hackert of Pella, and Dr. Marvin and Bretna Hackert of Austin, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law: Phyllis and Gary Cottington of Pella; seven grandchildren: Kim and Steve Wermerskirchen, Kevin Hackert, Kirk Hackert, Chris and Noelle Hackert, Brian Hackert, Deanne and Mike De Koning and Johanna Cottington; and three great-grandchildren: Joshua Levi De Koning, Abigail Joy Wermerskirchen and Tyler Rees Peterson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers: John, Abraham and Everett; and a sister, Wilma Aalbers.
