Mildred "Micki" Weatherby, 73, of Oskaloosa died Monday, Dec. 10, at Mahaska Hospital.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Garland-VanArkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Doug Smiley of Calvary Church officiating. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery in Leighton. Visiting hours begin 9 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Memorials: American Legion Post No. 34.
Micki was born Nov. 2, 1928, to William and Marie Vermeer Louwsma in Pella. She graduated from Pella High School and later earned a teaching certificate. She taught at Leighton School and Sand Ridge School.
She enjoyed golfing and playing the organ. She occasionally played for the residents at Siesta Park Nursing Home (now Georgian Court). She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth and Sharon Tromp of Smithville, Mo; a granddaughter, Kayla Tromp of Oskaloosa; three step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Ethel and Paul Strang of Harlem, Ga., Lee and Larry De Bruin of Pella, Maxine and Roger McKee of Escondido, Calif., and Betts and Skeeter Vermeer of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
