PELLA - Anna Christina Lubbers, 94, of Pella, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, in the Long Term Care Unit of Pella Regional Health Center.
Her funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Berean Baptist Church in Pella, the Rev. Michael Craighead officiating. Burial: Graceland Cemetery, Pella. Visiting hours are open today and continue until noon Saturday at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella, with family present 5-7:30 p.m. today. Memorials: Berean Baptist Church in Pella for the Organ Fund.
Anna Christina Brower was born July 20, 1907, in Leighton to John and Hendrika LeCocq Brower. She received a grade school education in Leighton.
On Sept. 14, 1932, she married Andrew Lubbers Sr. at her family farm home east of Leighton. They operated a dairy business in Pella known as Clover Leaf Dairy until they sold the businesses in 1951.
In 1953 they and their son, Andrew Jr., founded Lubbers Dairy Products. They owned and operated this business until Andrew Sr. died June 16, 1974. Anna sold the business to Andrew Jr. but kept involved in working at the dairy until her illness in 1989.
In February 1989 she moved to Pella Community Nursing Home. She was a former member of the Christian Reformed Church in Leighton and First Christian Reformed Church in Pella, and a member of Berean Baptist Church in Pella. She appreciated music and was an organist at Berean Baptist for many years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Lillian Ann and Lawrence Wetzler of Pleasant Hill; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Lubbers of Pella; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son on Feb. 2, 1994; her parents; three brothers and four sisters: Andrew, Anna, Christina, Henry and Andrew Brower, Cora VanHeukelom and Elizabeth Van Zee; and a nephew and a niece.
