PELLA - Ed Van Ee, 74, of Pella, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, of cancer at his home.

His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev. William D. Zeilstra officiating. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery in Pella, with military honors by Van Veen-Van Hemert American Legion Post No. 89 of Pella. Memorials: endowment funds of Pella Christian Grade School or Pella Christian High School. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Van Ee was born July 11, 1928, in Otley to Gerrit and Frances Van Gilst Van Ee. He began grade school at Otley Grade School and finished eighth grade at Pella Christian Grade School. He worked at Pella Implement Store.

On Nov. 15, 1950, he married Cathryn Vander Molen at her parents' home in Pella. He was drafted into the United States Army on Jan. 18, 1951. He served during the Korean War and was stationed in Chun-con, Korea, when their first child was born. He was discharged from the military on Jan. 20, 1953. He returned to work at Pella Implement.

In 1956 he began his career as a self-employed livestock buyer. He enjoyed attending sales and was active as a buyer until 1992. He sold to Iowa Pack, the Swift Packing Co. and Iowa Beef Packers. He continued selling cattle part-time until his death.

He was an active member of Second Christian Reformed Church, serving as a deacon and an elder. He was on the board of Pella Christian Grade School. He was a member of the Red Rock Threshers Club and Pella Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye sports fan.

He is survived by his wife, Cathryn; four children and spouses: Elvon G. and Jan Nanninga Van Ee of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Steven E. and Cheryl Wehlander Van Ee of White Bear Lake, Minn., Larry D. and Barbara Buyert Van Ee of Pella, and Susan K. and Brent Pierson of Pella; seven grandchildren; a sister, Tanna (Mrs. Henry) Brouwer of Winter Garden, Fla.; two sisters-in-law: Margaret (Mrs. William) Van Ee and Richarla (Bernard) Van Ee, both of Pella; his wife's siblings and spouses: Anna (Vander Molen) and Marion Hol of Cedar, Bernie and Alida Vander Molen, Henrietta (Mrs. Paul) Vander Hart, Hilda (Vander Molen) and Ed Groenendyk, all of Pella, Rachel (Vander Molen) and Lester Fynaardt of Oskaloosa, Lawrence and Mary Ann Vander Molen of Pella, and Pauline (Vander Molen) and Donald De Cook of Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: William and Bernard Van Ee; a brother-in-law, Henry Brouwer; and a sister- and brother-in-law, Greda (Vander Molen) and Paul Vander Hart.
