KNOXVILLE - Mildred Finarty, 88, died Monday, Oct. 28, at Pella Regional Health Center in Pella.
A celebration of her life will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville, Pastor Jill Leveck officiating. Burial: Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Friends may call at the funeral home today, with family present 6-8 p.m.
Mildred Finarty was born Nov. 18, 1913, in Marysville to James and Millie McGrew Barnhill. She grew up in the Pershing and Knoxville areas.
On Dec. 27, 1942, she married Arthur Clyde Finarty. They farmed on Highway 14 South after their marriage. They remained in the Knoxville area until Mildred moved to Bussey in 1989 to be near her cousin, Donald Reed, and his wife.
Mildred helped farm and was a homemaker. She also took care of her parents until their deaths. She spent many hours reading novels until her eyesight failed. She enjoyed shopping, especially for clothes.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Wilma; and a brother, Merle.
