PELLA - E. Margerette Brink, 92, formerly of Newton, Colfax and Des Moines, died Sunday, Dec. 8, in Palm Springs, Calif., where she had lived for the past 5 1/2 years.

Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella, Dr. Randy Ehrhardt officiating. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Pella. Memorials: American Cancer Society. The family will receive visitors noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Margerette Vanden Berg was born April 16, 1910, in Pella to William and Anna Wesseling Vanden Berg. Margaret, as she became known, attended Pella Christian Grade School and Pella Public High School; she quit school her sophomore year, and later returned and graduated.

On May 28, 1932, she married Myron William Brink in Boyden. They lived in Orange City for five years, then in Muskegon, Mich., for seven years. In 1945 they moved to Des Moines for two years, then moved to Newton. In 1952 they moved to a farm near Colfax.

Margaret worked at Spurgeon's Department Store in Newton as a sales clerk for 15 years. Myron retired in 1972, and in 1978 they moved back to Des Moines. On Oct. 1, 1985, Myron died. Margaret continued living in Des Moines until moving to Palm Desert, Calif., in 1997.

She was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church in Newton. She loved her family and appreciated flowers.

She is survived by four children and spouses: Mr. and Mrs. Keith E. Brink of Madison, Wis., Robert G. Brink of Palm Springs, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Delwin W. Brink of Palm Desert, Calif., and Myra J. Mahan of West Des Moines; seven grandchildren: Kurt Brink, Dana Houser, Kristin Brink, Jeffrey Brink, Michele Sutton, Josie and Brett Mahan; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son-in-law, Robert L. Mahan Jr.; a grandson, Robert L. Mahan III; her parents; and her brothers and sisters: Gerrit in infancy, Joe, Dick, Cornelius W. Vandenberg, Gerrit H. Van Den Berg, Anna Klein, Jessie Van Zee and Geraldine King.
