SULLY - Patsy Ruth "Pat" Vos, 65, of Sully, died Tuesday, April 2, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Reformed Church in Sully. Visiting hours begin 9 a.m. Thursday at Sully Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Sully, with family present 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday. Burial: Sully Cemetery, Sully. Memorials: Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Pat Van Ness was born Dec. 17, 1936, in Oskaloosa to F.E. and Ruth Goad Van Ness. She was adopted by the Rev. E.V. and Birdie Goad.
On Sept. 23, 1954, she married Wilbur Vos in Pella. She had lived 42 years in Sully, and the rest of her life in the Rose Hill area near Pella. She retired in 1996 from her job as an executive secretary for Maytag Corp.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, loved watching birds in their back yard, and enjoyed listening to music.
She is survived by her husband, Wilbur of Sully; a son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Rita Vos of Sully; a daughter and son-in-law: Teri and Jim Beaman of Overland Park, Kan.; her stepmother, Bettie Van Ness of Wichita, Kan.; an adoptive brother and his wife: Richard and Helen Goad of Beaverton, Ore.; three half sisters: Barbara Buehler of Wichita, Kan., Donna and husband Doug Hoyer of Coupeville, Wash., and Debbie Buehler of Belmond; and four grandchildren: Karissa and Cole Vos of Sully, and Makenzie and Alea Beaman of Overland Park, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her adoptive parents; an adoptive sister, Mary Edwards; three adoptive brothers: Stewart, Edward and Harold Goad; and two half brothers-in-law: Gary Buehler and Stan Buehler.
