Marvin Spoelstra, 58, of 910 W. Fifth St. in Pella died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Trinity Reformed Church in Pella, with Pastor Stephen Kowbel officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Leighton. Visitation is open at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the building fund of Federated Fellowship.

Marvin Lee Spoelstra was born June 13, 1943, near Oskaloosa to Charles and Ada Bandstra Spoelstra. He graduated from Pella Community High School in 1961.

On July 3, 1964, he married Delores Maxine Van Dorland in Pella. For the past 30 years, he worked at Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella, where he was a flame cutter. He attended Federated Fellowship in Pella.

He is survived by his wife, Delores; three children, Kevin Spoelstra of Mount Pleasant, Lisa Vanderhyde and her husband, Robert, of Pella and Kurtis Spoelstra of Pella; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and five brothers and two sisters and their spouses, Charlene and James Wakefield of Rock Springs, Wyo., Bernard and Cobie Spoelstra of Otley, Clarence and Nancy Spoelstra of Pella, Charles and Nela Spoelstra of Pella, Allen and Henrietta Spoelstra of Monroe, Gary and Beth Spoelstra of Pella, and Mary and Kenneth Olivier of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.
