PELLA - Olive Shultz, 97, formerly of Pella, died Wednesday, March 13, at Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs, where she had lived since 1999.

Her funeral service was held today, March 18, at the Second Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev. Sophie Mathonnet-Vander Well officiating. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Memorials: charity of the donor's choice. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is in charge of arrangements.

Olive Irene Fox was born Oct. 30, 1904, to Charles I. and Eliza Ann Sharr Fox in Callendar. She graduated from Central College in Pella, then taught school in Callendar for a year.

On Aug. 10, 1928, she married John Evert (Joe) Shultz in Pella. He began a dental practice in Pella in 1926. They had a daughter, Sally Jo, born Oct. 19, 1942, in Charles City. She was killed in an auto accident on Nov. 30, 1956. Following her death, Joe and Olive began doing missionary work in Annville, Ky., in 1958. Dr. Shultz did dental work there during the month of October for five years, became an honorary member of the Kentucky Dental Association and was made a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Chandler in honor of his mission work. He continued practicing dentistry in Pella until 1966.

On May 31, 1976, he died in Pella. Olive continued living in Pella, where her last residence was Hilltop Manor North. She was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Pella and the Fortnightly Club.

She is survived by her niece and husband, Patricia and Richard Peterson of Council Bluffs; a nephew and wife, Robert and Carolyn Fox of Cedar Rapids; and nieces Myrna Steggall of Sallisaw, Okla. and Mary Ann and husband Ray Tous of South Padre Island, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her daughter; her husband; her parents; three brothers: Dr. Ray Fox, Keith Fox and Kenneth Fox; and a twin sister, Ila Marie Loetscher.
