Grace Pals Lautenbach, 78, died Feb. 18 in Boulder, Colo.
She was born in Meservey on June 1, 1903 to Herman K. and Mintie Rozeboom Pals. She graduated from Meservey High School and earned a two year normal certificate at Central College. She taught school in Bennett and Pella.
On August 20, 1929, she married Fred W. Lautenbach. After the death of her husband in 1949, she resumed her college classes and taught sixth grade in the Pella schools.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Drake University in 1960, and attending summer classes at Denver University, earning her Library Science degree. She then taught English and became librarian at Pella High School.
She was a member of chapter BU, PEO Sisterhood. In 1976 she moved from Pella to the Good Samaritan Retirement Center in Boulder.
Surviving are her mother, Mintie Rozeboom Pals of Pella; sons, H.R. (Dick) Lautenbach of Littleton, Colo. and F.W. (Bill) Lautenbach of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her sisters: Ann (Mrs. Louis) VanderMyde of St. Ansgar and Wilma (Mrs. William) Probert of Cedar Rapids; her brothers: Dr. C.H. Pals of Alexandria, Va.; Harold W. Pals of Dumont, Colo., and Myron L. Pals of Costa Mesa, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herman K. Pals and her husband, Fred W. Lautenbach.
A memorial service was conducted Monday in Second Reformed Church. Arrangements were made by Van Dyk-Duven.
Memorials may be sent to the Good Samaritan Piano Fund.
