Lautenbach, Fred William – 1901-1949

Fred Lautenbach, 48, a director of the Allied Mutual Casualty Co., Des Moines, died in his home in Pella, Monday morning of a heart attack.
The deceased was a lifelong resident and was a graduate of central college at Pella. He had been a director of Allied Mutual for fifteen years and was a partner in the Lautenbach and Ver Dught Insurance agency in Pella.
Mr. Lautenbach is survived by his widow Grace, and two sons, Richard and William, both at home.

Fred Lautenbach, son of Charles and Katherine Lautenbach, was born in Pella, July 15, 1901. He attended the public school here, graduated from Pella high school and attended Central college. He married Grace Pals, August 20, 1929 and two sons came to them, H. Richard and Fred William.
As a young man the deceased was interested in the insurance business and he engaged in it for twenty-five years, admitting Verle Ver Dught into his business as a partner some years ago.
Mr. Lautenbach joined the Pella Baptist church at an early age and was very faithful in attendance and a worker in the church. He was a member of the board of trustees of the church and chairman of the building committee.
The deceased was interested in the music instruction program in the schools and served as president of the Band parents’ association. He had served on numerous committees of the Chamber of Commerce and had assisted in the promotion of Tulip Time.
Surviving are Mrs. Lautenbach, the sons, his father, Charles Lautenbach, one sister, Sophia, Mrs. Art Bruinekool, and three brothers, Casper and Robert, of Pella, and Lee, of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held, Wednesday, December 21, from the Pella Baptist church at 2 o’clock, with Rev. C. F. Perron officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood cemetery. – Pella Chronicle.
