OBITUARY FOR NEOMA KINGERY

Mrs. Neoma Kingery died at her home in Dunreath, Tuesday, June 8, at the age of 71 years, 5 months, and 23 days. (1920)

The maiden name of the deceased was Neoma Ellison. She was born in Indiana, October 15, 1848. In early girlhood she moved to Illinois where she was united in marriage to Willet Kingery. Mr. Kingery is still living, which fact makes a most unusual record of happy married life, almost 53 years. Tho this union were born fourteen children, seven sons and seven daughters, two of whom died in infancy. The sons are H.W., G.W.,D.F., Edward, all of Knoxville; J.J. of Percy; Charles, of Des Moines, and Will, at Monroe. The daughters are Mrs. E.H. Brown, of Des Moines; Mrs Jane Harris, of Bussey, Mrs. E.L. DeHeer , of Harvey; Mrs Alvin Cadwallader, of Cordova, and Mrs Peter Van Hemert, of Knoxville. The children were all present at the bedside of their mother at the time of her death. She also leaves forty three grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives. Mrs. Kingery came to Marion county with her husband about forty years ago, and they have always lived in the county.

She was united with the Baptist church when 18 years of age, and later changed her membership to the Evangelical Church at Red Rock to which she remained a faithful member to the end. Mrs. Kingery, despite her years, remained clear of mind until her death. Funeral services were held at (corner missing) .....at Dunreath, June 10 at 2 P.M. Interment was made in the Dunreath Cemetery.
