Obituary for Mathilde Vanceunebrock From Knoxville Journal, Knoxville, Iowa May 2004

Funeral services for Mathilde "Tillie" Kingery, 80, of Knoxville, who died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Wednesday, May 5, at the New Covenant Church. Dr. Craig Bex and Pastor Bob Smith officiated. at the services. Music was provided by Renabell Adams, organist and Roxanne Cox, vocalist.

Interment was at the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Casket bearers were Kevin Kingery, Mark Lambert, Justin Olivier, Mike Kingery, Eric Pearson, and tom Kingery. Honorary bearers were Brian Kingery, Val Olivier, Stacey Pothoven, Jason Olivier, Jeff Kingery, Amy Gray, Jennifer Kingery, Kyle Kingery, Courtney Kingery, Corey Lambert, Ashley Pitt, Katie Pitt, Ryan Pearson, Rhianna Wallace, Ross Wallace, Rebecca Wallace, and Reese Wallace.

Tillie was born on Feb. 11, 1924 in Knoxville, the daughter of Florent and Mathilde (Desplanque) Vanceunebrock. She was raised in the Knoxville area and graduated from Knoxville High School. On July 25, 1942 she married Walter Kingery in Princeton, MO. To this union seven children were born.

The couple first made their home in the Coalridge community. The couple farmed in the Coalridge area until 1948 when they moved to their present farm south of Knoxville. They were longtime members of the First Baptist Church and have recently called New Covenant their church home.

Tillie had many interests; she enjoyed tending to her garden and flowers and watching the birds and other wildlife. She was also a great cook and loved to make meals for family and friends., Her strong faith in God guided her entire life; she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and she always had compassion for others, keeping track of family and friends through her personal phone ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Marceaux and Florent.

She is survived by her husband, Walter; two sons, Gary Kingery (Carol) and Steve Kingery (Judy) all of Knoxville; five daughters Linda Lambert (Ken), Mary Olivier (Alvin), Judy Pitt (Mike), Carol Pearson (Danny) all of Knoxville, and Renee Wallace (Rob) of Hamilton: 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lena Thomas of Knoxville and Dorothy Casias of Albuquerque, N.M. and many other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to the New Covenant Church or First Baptist Church.

Arrangements were made by Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
