Donald Eugene Goad was born on Aug. 30, 1929, in Knoxville to Leo and Etta Jordan Goad. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1947.

He farmed until Dec. of 1949 when he enlisted in the United States Air Force with many of his close friends. He was discharged on Dec. 7, 1954.

He married Chloe Crandall on Feb. 10, 1956, in Knoxville. They lived their entire married lives in Marion County. Don joined the Iowa Air National Guard in Dec. of 1956. He was discharged in 1983, after serving as an aircraft mechanic for 27 years.

He was an active member of the Knoxville VFW and enjoyed bowling, hunting and playing cards with his friends.

Don died at his home in Knoxville on July 3 at the age of 75.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Dunham.

He is survived by his wife, Chloe; two sons, David and Doug and two grandchildren all of Knoxville and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held July 7 at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home with Minister Dale Blanshan officiating. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery.

Military honors were accorded by the Baty-Tucker Post 168, American Legion and John Myers Post 3519, VFW.

Memorials may be made to the Marion County 4-H and Knoxville Dollars for Scholars.
