Dorothy Maxine Beaver was born on March 31, 1920, on the family farm near Harvey, to W.G. and Ruth (Nicholson) Beaver.

She attended school in Attica, graduating in 1938. Dorothy helped on the farm until 1951, and then moved to Broken Arrow, Okla. where she worked for 24 years in an ice cream plant and restaurant. In 1975, she retired and moved back to Knoxville.
Dorothy was an ardent sports fan, especially basketball. She played six-player half court all four years of high school.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Dorothy passed away on July 6, at West Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 85.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Colene Kendrick; and brother, Herbert Beaver and most recently, sister-in-law Arlys Cummings Beaver.
Survivors include her brother, Harold "Peck" Beaver and his wife, Mary Ellen, brother-in-law, Don Kendrick and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside funeral service was held at Breckenridge Cemetery on July 9 with Rev. Raymond Moore officiating.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
