Funeral services for Winifred Violet Vaughn, 84, of Strafford, Mo. and formerly of the Otley and Leighton area, who died Saturday, Aug. 24, at Cox North Hospital in Springfield, Mo., were held Thursday, Aug. 29, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South in Springfield. Rev. James Taylor officiated at the services.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m., at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

Winifred was born on January 27, 1918 in Pella, the daughter of Garritt and Gertrude (Bennink) DenHartog.

She married Roy Philip Vaughn on Dec. 22, 1941 in Otley. They farmed in Otley for seven years, moving to the family farm near Leighton in 1951. They lived there until moving to Missouri seven years ago.

She was a member of the Church of God 7th Day Church in Springfield, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

She is survived by her husband, Phil of Strafford, Mo.; four daughters, Phyllis VanWyk of Sioux Falls, S.D., Lois Conkel of Raymore, Mo., Ruby Baker of Morrice, Mich. and Vivian Umlaup of Benton, Ill.; a brother, Eugene DenHartog of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Church of God 7th Day Church Building Fund in Springfield, Mo. Local arrangements were made by Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville.
