Funeral services for Nellie S. Ver Meer, 91, of Pella, who died Sunday, March 14, were held March 17, at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Rev. William Zeilstra, officiated the service. Norma Kuiper was the organist and Glenda Van Woerkom, soloist.

Interment was at Loman Cemetery Runnells. Casket bearers were her family.

Nellie Booy was born on November 13, 1912 in Marion County near Pella to Nicolaas and Henrietta Wilhelmina Kelderman Booy. She attended Pella Christian Schools.

Nellie and Len Frank Spencer were the united in marriage on Oct. 11, 1943. To this union two children were born: Linda Ruth and Robert Glen. Len and Nellie farmed near Runnells following their marriage and were doing just that when he passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 1953. Following his death Nellie and the children moved to Pella. Nellie was then employed at the Overall Factory.

On September 7, 1961, she and Anthony D. Ver Meer were united in marriage at Pella. On October 22, 1990 he passed away at the Griffin Nursing Center in Knoxville.

Nellie is survived by her two children: Linda and Elvin Van Kooten of Iowa Falls and Bob and Karen Spencer of Pella; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Of her original family Nellie leaves two sisters and one brother: Artie Rietveld, presently of Knoxville; Leonard Booy and his wife, Lena of Homer, Mich, and Pearl and her husband, Joe Stravers of Holland, Mich. Nellie's family also includes the following step-children: Albertha (Ver Meer) Newendorp of Pella; Marvin L. Ver Meer of Sunrise Beach, Mo., Delores (Ver Meer) Graff of Pella; Peter (Gladys Ver Meer) Van Soelen of Killduff, Betty (Gerald) Ver Meer of Knoxville, and their families.

Nellie was preceded in death by her two husbands: Len F. Spencer and Anthony D. Ver Meer; a grandson, her parents, two brothers: James and William Booy; and two sisters: Lena Booy and Alice Huisman.

For those desiring, memorials may be given for The Bible League.

Arrangements were made by Van Dyk Duven Funeral Home.
