Funeral services for Irene J. Vander Linden, 88, of Pella, who died Monday, March 29, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella, were held Friday, April 2, at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Rev. Arthur J. Van Wolde, officiated with Rev. Sheldon Starkenburg, assisting. Mrs. Iris Vander Wal, accompanist and Mrs. Amy Van Wolde, soloist.

Interment was at Peoria Cemetery in Mahaska County. Casket bearers were Ron Vander Linden, Carl Vander Linden, Greg Vander Linden, Curt Vander Linden, Dale Deur and Robert Deur.

Irene Junella De Jong was born on February 1, 1916 on the family farm near Peoria.She was the oldest of two daughters born to John A. and Grace Vos De Jong.

On December 29, 1942 she and Henry Vander Linden were united in marriage at the De Jong farm home. To this union four children were born: Ruth Ann, Ronald Jay, Carl Wayne and Gregory Paul. Henry and Irene enjoyed farming near Peoria their entire married lifetime, where she faithfully attended to the needs of her family.

Her children remember her sewing skills during these days and the wonderful clothes she made for them with love.

In 1981 she moved to Pella and later became a resident at the Hilltop Manor in 1999.

Those left to honor her memory are her four children and their spouses, along with three grandchildren. Ruth and Gerrit Bosch of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Ron Vander Linden of Pella, Carl and Phyllis Vander Linden of Keomah Village, and Greg Vander Linden of Green Valley, Arizona. Of her original family Irene leaves her sister and brother-in-law, Chum and Mel Deur of Pella. Of her husband Henry's original family she leaves the following brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Catherine (De Jong) Fayen of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Cornie and Eva Vander Linden of Corning, Iowa; Junella (Andrew) Vander Linden of Coralville, Iowa; Marion and Marilyn Vander Linden of Pella; Jennie (Bert) Wilting of Edmonton, Alberta and Stella and Bill Halstedt of Statesville, North Carolina.

For those desiring memorials may be given for the Hospice of Pella Comfort House.
