Funeral services for Donald Van Wyngarden, 77, of Pella, who died Feb. 1, were held Feb. 4, at Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Rev. William Zeilstra officiated the service. Organist was Norma Kuiper with special music by the Van Wyngarden Quartet.

Interment was at Peoria Cemetery in Peoria. Casket Bearers were his grandsons Cameron Van Wyngarden, Bret Van Wyk Doug Van Wyngarden Jared Van Wyk, Adam Van Wyngarden, and Brad Rolffs.

Donald Van Wyngarden was born June 9, 1926, in New Sharon, to Walter and Sadie Stursma Van Wyngarden. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 and was based in Hawaii. Following an honorable discharge, he completed high school and graduated from Pella Christian High School in 1947.

On June 9, 1949, he married Helen Assink. This marriage was blessed with four children, Jaci, Dean, Julie and Darwin. Don farmed near Pella most of his life.

Surviving are his wife, Helen, their four children and spouses: Jaci and Bernard Van Ee of Escondido, Calif.; Rebecca and Matt Hoksbergen of Lakewood, Col.; Dean and Diane Van Wyngarden of Oskaloosa; Julie and Dale Van Wyk of Grinnell; Darwin and Mary Pat Van Wyngaarden of Ripon, Calif., twelve grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Their family members are: Don's family also includes his sister Cornelia and her husband Gerrit Bandstra, Tenna Mae and her husband Jim Bandstra, and Alda and her husband Nundi Dyal Chand. Also, his brothers Cornie and his wife Irma Van Wyngarden, Henry and his wife Minnie Van Wyngarden, and Jerry and his wife Betty Van Wyngarden.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to Crossroads Bible Institute Prison Ministry, Pella Christian Grade School or Pella Christian High School

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
