Funeral services for Ruth Van Den Baard, 89, of Pella, who died March 10, were held Monday, March 15, at First Baptist Church in Pella. Rev. John Mc Nabb officiated the service. Kathy Farmer was the pianist, great-granddaughter Kaela, Cary Cottington, Jason Brown, and Abbey Crawford - Heim vocals.

Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Pella. Casket bearers were her grandsons Tom Van Den Baard, Brad Van Hulzen, Jason Brown, Scott Sowles, David Van Den Baard, and Matt Kauzlarich.

Mary Ruth Jansen, was born Jan. 1 1915 to daughter of Bill and Agnes Jansen. In 1932 she graduated from Pella High School, and on October 25 of that year she married Cornelius J. Van Den Baard. To this union five children were born: Norman, Shirley, Joan, Diana, and Peggy.

Ruth would always have something to enter at the Iowa State Fair, whether it was canned food, jellies, or her handiwork.

Ruth is survived by her five children and their spouses: Norman and Cindy Van Den Baard of Cedar Rapids, Shirly and Walt Ward of Pella, Joan Felton of Harlington, Tex., Diana and Larry Burkin of Pella, and Peggy Van Den Baard of Corpus Christi Texas; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Of her original family she leaves one sister-in-law, Marge Swank .

She was preceeded in death by her parents, along with her husband, Cornie, a son-in-law, Ray Van Hemert; daughter-in-law, Pat Van Den Baard; and most recently, her grandson-in-law, Everett Garr.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Pella. Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.
