Karen C. Upton of Lenox, 60 formerly of Pella passed away, Jan. 8.

Interment was at Garrett Cemetery in Delta.

Karen Christene Beman was born on July 10, 1943 at Delta to Harold and Winona Stonebraker Beman. Karen graduated from Delta High School at Delta.

On June 5, 1962 she was united in marriage with Larry Carl Upton at Iowa City. Karen and Larry moved to Pella in April of 1964 where their three children were born: Sherri Jo, Jeffrey Lynn who died in infancy on March 25, 1965 and Kevin Carl. Larry was fatally injured in a truck/train accident on March 12, 1971 near Mingo.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Sherri J. and her husband, Jeff Meng of Centerville; her son, Kevin C. Upton and his wife, Cheryl also of Centerville; two grandchildren: and her sister, Ida Mae Harkins of Pella.

Karen was preceded in death beside her infant son, Jeffrey Lynn and her husband, Larry C. Upton by her parents: her father, Harold Beman; her mother, Winona Beman; an infant brother, Joseph; her sister, Betty Lou Dingeman; and her brothers-in-law: "Bob"Dingeman and William H. Harkins.

For those desiring, a memorial is being established in the name of Karen C.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
