Funeral services for John B. Rozendaal were held Jan. 15, at the First Reformed Church in Sully with the Rev. Roger Punt and Bryce Hoyt officiating. Linda Schnell was organist, with Warren Terpstra, vocalist.

Interment was at Sully Cemetery in Sully. Casket bearers were Dale Rozendaal, Dennis Rozendaal, Rodney Rozendaal, Ross Rozendaal, Eugene Sjaardema and Todd Schippers. Honorary bearers were Shari Krauss, Peggy Carter, Marla Sjaardema and Malinda Schippers.

John Ben Rozendaal, son of William and Jane (Terlouw) Rozendaal, was born November 2, 1905, north of Sully. He received his education in the public schools of Jasper County. John was a farmer. He worked for Fred Schmidt Lumber after retiring from the farm in 1966. He enjoyed reading and working in his shop.

On February 16, 1932, he was united in marriage to Jerena Willemsen by Reverend Richard De Jong at the Sully Reformed Church Parsonage. Jerena passed away on December 6, 1978.

He is survived by his children: Robert L. and Helen Rozendaal of Sully; James W. and Beverly Rozendaal of Chico, Calif.; Joan A. Rozendaal of Cedar Falls; and Shirley K. and David Schippers of rural Lynnville; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ted T. Rozendaal of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, eight brothers: Peter, Henry, Anthony, Herman, Fred, Walter, Albert, and Adrian; two sisters: Maggie Van Genderen and Pearl Reynen.

Memorials may be made to Words of Hope, Hospice of Pella or The Gideon's.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.
