Funeral services for Mrs. Emma A. Den Hartog, 99, of Pella, who died, Feb. 6, were held Feb. 10 at Chapel of Third Reformed Church in Pella.Rev Robert Schuring, officiated the service with Mr. Peter Meerworth, organist.

Interment was at the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Casket bearers were her family.

Emma Annetta Van Gorp was born on September 11, 1904 at to Jacob W. and Hattie Hiemstra Van Gorp.

On July 17, 1926 she was united in marriage with John A. Den Hartog at her parents' home near Otley. To this union two sons were born: Norman Lee and Leland Glen. Following their marriage, they operated a Red Ball Food Store in Des Moines, and then returned to Pella where they operated the Jack Spratt Store. In 1941 they relocated to Knoxville, where they operated the Den Hartog Variety Store until the late 1950's when John became a real estate agent. Just prior to John's 61st birthday he passed away unexpectedly at their home in Knoxville on April 6, 1964. Following his death, Emma moved back to Pella.

Emma is survived by are her two sons and their wives, Norman and Harriet Den Hartog of Storm Lake and Leland and Mary Jo of Centerville; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Emma also leaves 19 great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Bonna (Wilfred) Van Gorp of Louisville, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Norman) Den Hartog; her parents, Jacob and Hattie Van Gorp; her younger sister, Jeannetta Wilhelmina (Jean) and her husband, Raymond Johan (Ray) De Haan and her younger brother, Wilfred Van Gorp.

For those desiring, memorials may be given to the New Tribes Mission to be designated for the Schuring Family.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.
