Funeral services for Jacoba De Zwarte, 89, of Pella, who died Jan. 20, were held Friday, Jan. 23 at Covenant Reformed Church in Pella. Rev. Patrick Edouard and Rev. John Piersma officiated the service. Laura Rus was organist and Doug Van Gorp was vocalist.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Casket bearers were his grandsons Mike De Zwarte, Steve Van Sant, Ron Van Sant, David Van Sant, Kevin Rowe, Doug Rowe, and Eric Rowe.

Jacoba Van Oenen, the daughter of Henry and Sientje (Wouterse) Van Oenen, was born May 16, 1914 south of Pella.

On May 9, 1934, Jacoba was united in marriage with Abraham De Zwarte at the First Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Pella. To this union, four children were born: Marvin, Marilyn, Connie and Linda. They made their home on the farm south of Pella for over twenty years. For many years, Jacoba worked at the Pella Canning Company. She was a member of the Covenant Reformed Church in Pella.

Jacoba is survived by her husband, Abraham De Zwarte of Pella; a son and his wife, Marvin and Mary De Zwarte; three daughters and their husbands: Marilyn and Gerald Van Sant, Connie and Jerry Rowe, and Linda and Pat Brown; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna De Jong and Cornelia Vander Ploeg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sientje Van Oenen; two sisters Lizzie Sytsma and Elsie Terpstra; and four brothers-in-law: Murray Sytsma, Cecil Terpstra, Edwin Vander Ploeg, and Henry De Jong.

Memorials may be made to the Covenant Reformed Church.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
