Funeral services for Emeline Vos, 87, of Rogers, Ark. and formerly of Pella, who died Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Brighton House Care Center, in Rogers, Ark., were held Saturday, Feb. 22, at First Baptist Church in Pella. Pastor John M. McNabb officiated at the services. Judy Steenhoek was organist.

Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Pella. Casket bearers were Dennis Gezel, Jeff Gezel, Joe Gezel, Steven Pierce, Duane Sabin, Miles Sabin, and Vincent Vos.

Emeline was born on October 6, 1915, in Marion County near Pella. She was the third of seven children born to George and Edith L. (Porter) Gezel. She attended school in Pella and later graduated from Pella High School with the class of 1933.

She began working on the original Pella Cookbook and also worked at the Pella Chronicle.

On August 29, 1935 she married Edward Harold Vos at the First Reformed Church parsonage in Pella. To this union three children were born: Harold Eugene, Charles Wesley and Bonnie Louise. Emeline was employed for several years at the Pella Overall Factory. She then worked for the Rolscreen Company as a secretary and retired from this position in 1971. When Ed's health began to decline, Emeline faithfully attended to his needs the remainder of his lifetime.

Following her husband's death in 1981, Emeline moved to an apartment and eventually to the Pella Manor. In 1955 she moved to Rogers, Ark. to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Gisela. When her needs demanded more advanced care she became a resident of Brighton House Care Center in Rogers, Ark.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pella.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; two sisters, Mildred and Bernice; a brother, George Gezel and a great-granddaughter, Katie Jane Pierce.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Harold and Gisela (Marre) Vos of Rogers, Ark. and Charles and Ella (Cunningham) Vos of Tahachepi, Calif.; a daughter and her husband, Bonnie and Tom Pierce of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frieda Ten Hagen and Louise Sabin; and a brother, Ivan Gezel and his wife, Elvira Gezel of Humeston.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements were made by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home.
