Funeral services for Lambert Veenstra, 88, of Taintor, who passed away Sept. 5, were held Sept. 9 at the Peoria Christian Reformed Church in Peoria. The Rev. Pastor John Gorter and the Reverend William De Jong officiated. Organist was Marge Fynaardt.

Burial services were held at the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Casket Bearers were John Veenstra, Bernie Veenstra, Marvin Veenstra, Eddie Veenstra, Charles Veenstra and Phil Bloem.

Lambert Veenstra, the son of John L. and Carrie( Vander Molen) Veenstra, was born February 11, 1915 near Taintor. On December 5, 1940, he married Cornelia De Jong.

Lambert was baptized and made his profession of faith at the Peoria Christian Reformed Church where he remained a lifetime member. He served as deacon, elder and taught catechism for many years.

He graduated from the Pella Christian School and later served many terms on the school board. Lambert and Cornelia made their home on the farm. Lambert was a life-long farmer and also served over twenty years on the Taintor Co-op board, many of those years as president.

Lambert is survived by his wife, Cornelia, his children and their families: John and Betty Veenstra of Taintor; Marvin Veenstra of Odenton, Maryland; Charles and Marlene Veenstra of Sioux Center; Bernie and Nella Veenstra of New Sharon; Carrie Ann and Phil Bloem of New Sharon; Eddie and Deb De Vries of Otley; 29 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and his sister Jeanetta (Henry W.) De Jong.

Lambert was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Grace Van Wyk; his brother, Ben Veenstra; and his daughter, Marie Rose.
