Visitation for Joyce Van Zee, 88 of Pella, who passed away Dec. 4, was held Dec. 8 at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.

Joyce Lerline Lowe was born on October 22, 1937 to Claude and Rosa (Lowe) Lowe. She attended college and received her Registered Nurse degree. Joyce then worked as a Registered Nurse in a hospital.

On November 26, 1960 she was married to Kenneth LeRoy Van Zee and to this union Siamese twins, Kevin and Keith, and two daughters, Katherine Lynn and Mary Louise were born. They provided day care in their home shortly after their marriage.

In 1975 they moved to Pella, Iowa. Joyce took in handicapped foster children and adopted Thomas L. Van Zee, Ryan L. (Hopkins) Van Zee and Geoffery (Reeves) Van Zee. Joyce was responsible for the first handicapped pre-school program at the Community Center in Pella

She is survived by her two daughters: Katherine L. (Kattie) Van Zee; Mary Louise and her husband, Michael Spoo of Carlisle; one grandchild; her brother, Harvey Lowe of Turlock, Calif; and her sister, Mattie Evelyn Johnson of Modesto, Calif..

Joyce was preceded in death by her Siamese twins, Kevin and Keith, her parents, Claude and Rosa Lowe; her brother, Howard Lowe; and two adopted sons: Thomas L. Van Zee and Ryan L. Van Zee

She will be inurned in the Oakwood Cemetery at Pella, Iowa.

Arrangements were handled by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home of Pella.
