Funeral Services were held for Kathryn Van Wyk, 91 of Sibley, Oct. 17, at Christian Reformed Church in Ocheyedan. Officiating was Rev. Mike Harberts and John Knoester. Organist was Thelma Haack with Trumpeter Karen Olson and special music by Christianne Belken.

Interment was held at Ocheyedan Township Cemetery. Casket bearers were Nick Frohardt, Jim Hibma, Phil Hibma, Bob Hibma, John Hibma, and Mark Hibma.

Kathryn Lillian (Hibma) Van Wyk was born on January, 19, 1912, at Mauric, to Nicholas and Annie (Jansma) Hibma. She grew up near Harris, and received her schooling at Harris Consolidated School, attending through the ninth grade. On Sept. 12, 1933, she married Lawrence Van Wyk at her family home near Harris.

Lawrence passed away on February 11, 2000. Kathryn moved to the Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa in December of 2000. Kathryn was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Ocheyedan, where she was a member of the Dorcas Aid Society.

She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Alvin and JoyceVan Wyk of Ocheyedan, and Wayne Van Wyk also of Ocheyedan, two grandchildren, three sisters and brothers - in - law: Marie and Gene Frost of Big Rok, Ill, Leona and Cal Frohardt of Storm Lake, Phyllis and Wally Frost of Long Beach, Ca: two brothers and sister - in - law: Don and Betty Hibma of Broken Arrow, Ok., Ervin and Viola Hibma of Harris, four sisters - in - law ; Charlotte Hibma of Ocheyedan, Elvina Hibma of Cerritos, Calif, Emilia Hibma of Harris, Gertrude Hibma of Spirit Lake, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence; her parents; and infant daughter; four brothers; Pierce, Clarence, Elmer, and Rav Hibma.
