Funeral services for Helen Van Wyk, 83 of Pella, who passed away Oct. 23, were held Oct. 28 at First Reformed Church in Pella. Rev. Ray Tilstra officated, Janice Klein was the pianist, Janet Van Wyk was the vocalist, and Katharine Van Wyk and Jennifer Zeigner provided by special music.

Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Casketbearers ere Stuart Vander Vegte, Nicholas Vander Vegte, Adam Van Wyk, James Van Wyk, Richard Waddington, Jacqueline Larson, Katharine Van Wyk, Jennifer Zeigner, and Emily

Helen Van Wyk, the daughter of Hugo and Johanna (Vander Streek) Steenhoek was born on June 1, 1920. On February 7, 1945, Helen was united in marriage with Richard Van Wyk in Pella. To this union, three children were born: Rodney, Joan and Bonnie.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Pella, and was an active participant in the Ruth Circle, Shepherd Group, Prayer Group, Come Double Club, World Home Bible League, and worked as a volunteer at Work of Our Hands. For ten years she was employed at Village Cleaners as a press operator.

Helen is survived by her husband, Richard of Pella; her children, Rodney and Janet Van Wyk of West Des Moines, Bonnie and Stanley Vander Vegte of Stillwater, Minn., and Joan Waddington of New Hope, Minn.; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four brothers, Myron, Leroy, Alfred and Reuben Steenhoek, all of Pella.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Johanna Steenhoek; two brothers, Lester and Dale Steenhoek; a sister, Viola Van Wyk; and a son-in-law, Robert Waddington.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.
