VAN RHEENEN, KOLENBRANDER, HOLLEBRANDS

Funeral services for Angeline Van Rheenen, 93 of Pella, who passed away Sept. 30, were held Oct. 3 at Heartland Reformed Church in Pella. The Rev. Ross Davidson officiated. Kara Vander Werff was the accompanist and Robert Van Essen, Robin Vos, and Crystal Rozeboom , and the great-grandchildren were vocalists.

Interment was held at Graceland Cemetery in Pella. The Rev. Norman Kolenbrander presided. Casket bearers were her grandsons: Douglas De Bruin, Stuart De Bruin, Shaun De Bruin Scott Van Essen, Jeff Kramer, Cory Kramer, Ryan Kramer, Chris De Ronde, Kevin De Ronde.

Angeline Anna Kolenbrander was born on October 12, 1909 to Gerrit B. and Cornelia Hollebrands Kolenbrander. She attended the Flint Ridge No. 9 Country Grade School near Pella. As a young girl, she was employed at the Home for the Aged in Pella where she was so well liked by the residents that Angeline decided to hold her wedding ceremony on the grounds.

On Valentine's Day, February 14, 1934 she was united in marriage with William Henry Van Rheenen. Shortly following their marriage, William and Angeline purchased the Kolenbrander family farm where their five daughters were born: Violet Arlene, Aleatha Mae, Willeda Rose, Lola Jean and Carol Joy. In August of 2000, Angeline and William became residents at the Monroe County Care Center in Albia. On Father's Day, June 16, 2002, William passed away at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. In October of 2002, Angeline became a resident in Inn Care at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella.

Angeline is survived by her are her five daughters and their husbands; Violet and Willis Vander Linden of Leighton; Aleatha and Orlo De Bruin of Albia; Willeda and Robert Van Essen of Pella; Lola and Martin Kramer of Pella; Carol and Robert De Ronde of Pella; 15 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandaugher.

Angeline was the last surviving member of her original family and leaves her sister-in-law, Freda (Henry W.) Kolenbrander of Pella and two brothers-in-law: Valentine (Berdena Kolenbrander) Van Rheenen of Pella and Albert (Janet Kolenbrander) De Kock of Texas.

Angeline also leaves her husband's brothers and sisters and their spouses: Valentine Van Rheenen and Agnes (Clarence) Witzenburg both of Pella; Clifford Van Rheenen of Mendota, Ill; Marguerite Van Zee of New Brighton, Minnesota; Rev. Ralph and Esther Van Rheenen of Pella; Irene and Harold Harder of Tipton; his sister-in-law, Lorna (Chalmer) Van Rheenen of Abilene, Tex. and his brother-in-law, Arthur (Elizabeth Van Rheenen) Klyn of Pella.

Angeline was preceded in death by her husband William; her parents, Gerrit B. and Cornelia Kolenbrander; two half-sisters: Johanna (A.A.) Ver Meer and Rachel (Wm.) Van Dusseldorp; five brothers and three sisters: Dick J. Kolenbrander, Laurina (Andrew) Kool, Elias Kolenbrander, Rev. William B. Kolenbrander, James J. Kolenbrander, Rev. Henry W. Kolenbrander, Janet (Albert) De Kock and Berdena (Valentine) Van Rheenen.

For those desiring, memorials may be designated for the Heartland Reformed Church of Pella.

Funeral arrangements were handeled by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
