Funeral services for John Langstraat, 90, of Knoxville, who passed away Aug. 27, were held Aug. 30 at the Faith Baptist Church in Knoxville.

John L. Langstraat, the son of Leendert and Wilhelmina (De Heus) Langstraat was born March 8, 1913 in Mahaska County. On December 13, 1933, John was united in marriage to Anna Vander Hart. To this union four children were born: Bertha, Gloria, Joyce, and Phillip.

John enjoyed farming until his retirement after which he continued to live on his farm northeast of Knoxville. John was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Knoxville as well as a member of the Dutch Masters Auto Club and the Farm Bureau.

John is survived by his children: Gloria and Earl Van Wyk of Monroe, Joyce and Scott Pearson of Knoxville, and Phillip and Karen Langstraat of Indianola; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Minnie Van Ham of Des Moines and Pauline De Jong of Greenville, South Carolina; one brother, Leonard Langstraat of Bussey; and a special friend, Nell Welch of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; one daughter, Bertha Nunnikhoven; six brothers: Henry, Herman, Peter, Dick, Paul, and Cornie; five sisters: Anna Nunnikhoven, Hattie Kuiper, Alice De Jong, Sarah Cotton, and Irene Pol.

For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Faith Baptist Church in Knoxville.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.
