Graveside services for Doloros Koopman, 88, of Pella were held March 8 at the Graceland Cemetery, the Rev. John McNabb officiating.

Doloros Reba Lathrop, a daughter of Harry and Viola Henderson Lathrop, was born at Rose Hill, on November 4, 1914. Doloros was educated in the Rose Hill school system and eventually graduated from Rose Hill High School with the class of 1933. During her high school years, Doloros worked at Sol Popopski's Grocery Store in Oskaloosa.

On May 20, 1933 she was united in marriage with Walter G. Koopman at the Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, Missouri. To this union one son was born, Roger Dean. Walt, as he was known, served as a city and rural letter carrier at Pella, Iowa for 46 years as well as a part-time bookkeeper for several Pella businesses. Doloros also worked outside of the home at the Pella Overall Factory for 8 years, and the Rolscreen Company for 24 years.

Walt died on January 30, 1985 at the age of 76 years. Doloros continued living at 515 West First Street in Pella with her special companion Jessie, a German Shepherd dog which lived with her for 13 years.

She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church. Doloros health began to decline and on September 27, 2002 she became a resident of Inn Care at the Pella Regional Health Center. On Tuesday morning, March 4, Doloros passed away.

She is survived by her son, Roger Dean Koopman and his wife Norma of Milan, Illinois; two grandchildren and their spouses ; two great grandchildren, and her sister Dorothy Ryan of Oakwood, Illinois.

Doloros was preceded in death by, her husband Walter; her great-granddaughter Deanna Koopman; her parents, Harry and Viola (Henderson) Lathrop and her brother Donald H. Lathrop.

Memorials may be given to Inn Care at Pella Regional Health Center.

Arrangements were handled by Van Dyke-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
