Funeral services for Donald Kamerick, 83, of Pella, who died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella, were held Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Pastor Ross Davidson officiated at the services. Music was provided by Laura Roorda, organist and Larry Roorda, vocalist.
Interment was at Portergrove Cemetery in Pella. Casketbearers were Ron Kramer, Rusty Kramer, Loren De Penning, Max Killoren, John Van Zee, and Lee Nossman.
Donald was born on Feb. 7, 1920, in Pella, to John and Muriel (Sytsma) Kamerick. On Aug. 27, 1957 he married Viola Criss in Bethany, Mo. Donald served as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army earning the rank of Corporal.
Donald was a lifetime resident and business owner in the Pella community. For over 40 years he worked repairing televisions at Don's Radio and TV. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Lou De Vries; a brother, Arnold Kamerick; and an infant son, Steven Kamerick.
He is survived by his wife, Viola; nine children, Donald R. (Jody) Kamerick, Jr., Daniel (Kristy) Kamerick, Terry (Arik) Beal, all of Pella, Gerald (Phyllis) Pokorney of Deadwood, S.D., Donald (Jan) Pokorney of Pella, Sandra K. (Dan) Winarske of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Donna (Gene) Waddell of Leighton, Judy (John) Kerr of Michigan, and Diane (Mike) Costa of Holly, Mich.; 26 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Murray Kamerick of Pella and Golmore Kamerick of Melcher-Dallas; and a sister, Edith Van Wyk of Sully.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Pella or the Kamerick family.
Arrangements were made by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home.
