HARTHOORN, RUSSELL, LANPHIER

Funeral services for Brandon Scott Harthoorn, 15, of Galesburg were held December 28 at the Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton, the Pastor Larry Spader officiated. Music was provided by Connie Spader, organist, Darla Baarda, pianist, and Russell Stravers, soloist.

Interment was at the Sully Cemetery in Sully. Honorary bearers were Joey Van Kooten. Tyler Jansen, Matt Elscott, Duane Harthoorn, Joel Jansen and Bryce Elscott.

Brandon Scott Harthoorn, the son of Steven Kent and Krista Louise Russell Harthoorn, was born May 28, 1987, in Pella, Iowa. Brandon grew up near Galesburg and graduated from Sully Christian Grade School. He was currently a freshman at Lynnville-Sully High School.

During his breaks from school, Brandon enjoyed working with his dad at Pella Precast Products in Pella. Brandon loved the outdoors. He currently was restoring his 1947 John Deere B tractor. He loved to hunt and fish and especially go camping with his friends.

Brandon accepted Christ as his Savior at age 7. He later was baptized at Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton. He was very active in Faith Walkers and "412" youth groups in Sully.

Death came to Brandon on Thursday, December 26, 2002, at his home. He was 15 years old.

He is survived by his parents, Steve and Krista Harthoorn; his brothers: Jason Alan Harthoorn and Nathaneal Steven Harthoorn, all of Galesburg; his maternal grandparents, Morris and Carmen Russell of Altoona; his paternal grandparents, Carroll and Norma Harthoorn of Sully; his great-grandmothers, Nellie Harthoorn of Sully, and Rosetta Lanphier of Mountain Home, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Scott Russell; his great-grandparents, Cornelius "Case" and Jennie Van Kooten; and great-grandfathers, Gerald Lanphier and Cornelius "Case" Harthoorn.

Arrangements were handled by Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

Memorials may be made to the Sully Christian School.
