Funeral services for Cornelia Bennett, 89, who passed away Nov. 20, were held Nov. 24 at the chapel of the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home. The Rev. Forrest Durham officiated.

Interment was held at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Casket bearers were Glen Chapman , Mike Chapman, Gary Hegwood , Marvin Klein , David Wichhart , and Melvin Wichhart. Honorary casket bearers were her grandsons.

Cornelia Lucille Klein was born on Nov. 8 to Anthony G. and Minnie Messamaker Klein. Lucille, as she was known, was educated in the Pella Grade School. On June 22, 1931 she was united in marriage with Harry Leslie Bennett in Oskaloosa. Lucille and Harry had three sons: Leslie Robert, Donald Wayne and Roger Carl. Harry and Lucille lived most of their married lifetime in Harvey. After their retirement in 1973, Harry and Lucille moved to Pella. Harry died unexpectedly on December 3, 1984 at the age of 73 years.

Lucille is survived by her three sons and thier wives: Leslie and Ramona Bennett of Harvey; Donald and Shirley Bennett of Harvey; and Roger and Marty Bennett of Omaha, Neb.; 15 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Of her original family, Lucille leaves her three sisters: Edna Torres, Hattie Needham, and Carolyn and her husband Ivan Chapman, along with her sister-in-law, Audrey (Roy E.) Klein, all of Pella.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Harry L. Bennett; two grandsons, Steven Ray and David Leslie Bennett; her sister, Jeanette (Adam) Wichhart; her two brothers, Charles A. Klein and Roy E. Klein; along with two brothers-in-law, Felix Torres and Delmar Needham.

For those desiring, memorials may be designated for the Harvey United Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
