Obituary for MRS. J.R. DE MOSS
Mrs. J.R. DeMoss died at her home on West Pleasant street in Knoxville, yesterday (Wednesday) at the advanced age of 81 years, 10 months and 2 days.
She was the daughter of Henry and Margaret O'Brien Davis, and was born December 13, 1865 in Marion county.
In September 1886, she was united in marriage to John R. DeMoss, who preceded her in death April 13, 1931. To this union four children were born.
Mrs. DeMoss spent most of her life on the farm, but the last thirty-two years lived in Knoxville.
The deceased was greatly devoted to her home and family and these constituted he life. In her early years she was associated with the Coalport Baptist Church.
She leaves to mourn her passing four children; Mrs. Maude Betterton, of Knoxville, ; Mrs. Zoe Frederick and Loren B. DeMoss of Des Moines, and Mrs. Mabel Jones of Tracy; one sister, Mrs. Mary Ervy of Texas; three granddaughters, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at the home, 1902 Pleasant Street, Friday afternoon at 2:00 conducted by the Rev. Paul Hann. Interment in Graceland Cemetery. (Died 1948)
