Obituary for Maude Betterton from Knoxville Journal, Knoxville, Iowa

Services for Maude DeMoss Betterton, 92, who died January 14, 1980 at Collins Memorial Hospital were held Jan. 16, at Willliams Funeral Home.

Dr. Leonard E. Deaver officiated at the services with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Merle Betterton, Clifford Jones, Harold DeZwarte, Van Fast, Paul Sherwood and Walter Kingery.

Mrs Joan Arnott was organist and Dr. Gordon Arnott was soloist.

Born June 29, 1887 in Marion County, she was the daughter of John and Adaline Davis DeMoss. She married Gardner Betterton March 3, 1909.

They farmed northeast of Knoxville until retiring in 1950, when they moved to town.

He preceded her in death August 25, 1953.

She was a member of the Coal Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Ray (Lorain) Kingery to Knoxville; three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Zola Fredricks of Des Moines and Mabel Jones of Knoxville.
