Obituary - Lydia Izetta, daughter of Isaac and Hanna Meirs, was born in Knox County, Illinois, December 23, 1861, and died at her home in Knoxville, Iowa July 9, 1934, at the age of 72 years, 6 months, and 16 days. She came to Iowa with her parents as a small child. She was united in marriage to O.J. Betterton on March, 1881.
To this union was born seven children; Gardner F., and Marshall V, of Knoxville; Fred O, of Downers Grove, Ill.; William H. and Thomas, of Knoxville; Bernice Jerrell, of Pleasantville, Iowa; and Bertha May Marshall, who preceded her in death.
Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her loss, thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. May Anderson, and a brother, Joseph F. Meirs, both of Knoxville.
The deceased was united with the Christian Church at Englewood several years ago.
Nearly thirteen years age she was stricken with a stroke of paralysis, which left her an invalid from that time until her death.
A host of friends mourn her passing from this world.
Funeral services were held at the Bybee and Davis Funeral home at two o'clock p.m. Wednesday and the burial was at Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. E.L. Stone officiated.
