Obadiah J. Betterton died at his home in Knoxville at the age of 87 hears, 3 mos. 4 days. Mr. Betterton, eldest son of Gardner and Emily Betterton was born in Wapello County, Iowa, November 18, 1854, and was married to Lydia Izetta Miers in the year 1881. She preceded him in death.

To this union were born 7 children; 5 sons, Gardner F. and Marshall V. of Knoxville, Fred O., deceased, William H. and Thomas also of Knoxville; and 2 daughters, Bernice Jarrell of Knoxville and Bertha May Marshall, deceased.

Besides his children he leaves a sister, Mrs. Frances Kerr of Springdale, Ark.; a brother Ora H. Betterton of California, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Bybee and Davis Funeral Home, Thursday, February 26 and interment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery.
