VAN ENGELENHOVEN, TOL, VAN ECK

Funeral services for Everett Van Engelenhoven, 80, of Pella, who died on Sunday, December 10, 2000, at Pella Regional Health Center, were held on Thursday, December 14, at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Rev. Thomas A. Dykstra officiated at the services with Rev. Sheldon Starkenburg assisting. Gary Van Engelenhoven was soloist. Sheila De Haan was organist.

Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Leighton. Casket bearers were David Lanser, Brian Sterk, Jason Van Kooten, Jamie Van Kooten, Joshua Van Kooten, and Jeff Miedema. Honorary bearer was Joseph Van Kooten.

Everett was born on August 6, 1920, near Bussey, to Pieter and Gieltje (Tol) Van Engelenhoven. He attended the Else Country Grade School near Leighton.

He married Anna Van Eck on February 4, 1944 in Pella. Everett and Anna farmed in the Leighton and Oskaloosa areas until Everett retired in 1982. They later moved to Pella.

Everett enjoyed traveling and detailing cars. He was a previous member of Leighton Christian Reformed Church and had currently been a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry; great-grandson, Zachary Van Kooten; parents; three sisters, Johanna Wilhelmica, Jennie and Nellie Van Engelenhoven; and four brothers, Arie, John, Cornie P. and Rene Van Engelenhoven.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and James Lanser of Pella, Marilyn and Dale Sterk of Otley, and Betty and Dean Van Kooten of Kellogg; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Nellie (Arie) Van Engelenhoven; Jennie Schippers, and Cora Leydens, all of Pella.

Memorials may be made to the Bible League or the "Back To God Hour" a Christian radio ministry broadcast.

Arrangements were made by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home.
