Services for Gerald Dunsmore, 93, of Davenport, who died on Tuesday, December 5, 2000, at Iowa Masonic Home in Bettendorf, were held on Friday, December 8, at Christ United Church in Davenport and Saturday, December 9, at Tracy United Methodist Church. Masonic services were held on Thursday, December 7, at Runge Mortuary.

Interment was at Bellefountaine Cemetery in Tracy.

Gerald was born on December 14, 1906 in Bussey, the son of Josephus and Arpie (Darnell) Dunsmore. He married Ila Laurine Furgison on August 27, 1929 in Cedar.

Gerald had been an education administrator throughout Iowa, retiring from the Davenport School System. Following his retirement he served as the Dean of Palmer Community College, the Director of Education at the Annie Wittmeyer Home, and was an adjunct professor at the St. Ambrose University.

He was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Davenport, Roosevelt Lodge #626, Davenport, and KABBA Shrine.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sara Dunsmore of Davenport; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Darrell McFarland of Yukon, Okla.; Mary Dyche of Rock Falls, Ill.; Frank Mixell of Tipton; and other children to whom he opened his home; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church in Davenport or the American Heart Association.

Arrangements were made by Runge Mortuary & Crematory in Davenport.
