Funeral services for Emma Caroline Miller, 87, of Knoxville, who died March 10, 2000 at the West Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, were held March 18, 2000 at the Ayrshire United Methodist Church.

Burial was at the Silver Lake Cemetery in Aryshire. Emma was born on June 21, 1912 in Pukwana, South Dakota the daughter of Silas Mileage and Janna (Sather) Milleage.

She was raised in Mitchell, South Dakota. On December 7, 1932 she was united in marriage to Holger Miller in Salt Lake City, Utah. The couple made their home in Mitchell until moving to Ayrshire, Iowa in 1936.

Emma and Holger raised their children and farmed in Ayrshire all their married life. During those years, Emma was very active in the Methodist Church and the Garden Club. In 1973 they moved to Knoxville to be near their daughter, Janna.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, and a former longtime member of the Ayrshire United Methodist Church.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband Holger in 1989; six brothers, and four sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Janna Kassel; two sons Jim Miller, Ankeny, Norman Miller, Bristol, Tennessee; sister, Laura Sickafoose of Tacoma Washington; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Martin Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.
