Funeral services for Ruby Maude Martin, 100, of Knoxville, who died Sunday, May 28, 2000 at Westridge Manor and Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville, were held Wednesday, May 31 at 1:30 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. Rev. Raymond Moore officiated at the services.

Interment was at the Gullion Cemetery in Marion County. Casket bearers were Bruce Brubaker, Willard Harkness, Charles Johnson, Duane Meindertsma, Carl Sailors, Chad Sailors and Dean Vande Kamp.

Ruby was born on May 2, 1900 near Bussey, the daughter of Sarah Anna Doughman and Charles Johnson. She was one of 12 children. She lived her entire life in Marion County.

She married Charles Harold Martin on September 25, 1919 in Bussey. The couple had two children.

Ruby was a homemaker who loved to cook and garden. She was a tireless worker and took great pleasure in helping others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, LuElla Brubaker of Des Moines and Charlene Meindertsma of Knoxville; two grandsons, Bruce Brubaker of New York, N.Y., and Duane Meindertsma of San Clemente, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Bradley and Jessica Meindertsma of San Clemente, Calif.; and two sisters, Hilda Harkness of Walhalla, S.C., and Edith Long of Knoxville.

Arrangements were made by the Williams Funeral Home of Knoxville.
