Funeral services for Eva Lenig, 79, of Knoxville, who died on Friday, December 8, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, were held on Tuesday, December 12, at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home. Rev. Raymond Moore officiated at the services.

Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Casket bearers were Ryan Bailey, Jeremy Bailey, Jerry Zimmer, Billy Kelderman, Steve Weldon, and Jody Van Dusseldorp.

Eva was born on October 21, 1921, in Norwalk, the daughter of Harry and Myrtle De Vault Kime. She started school in Polk County and graduated from the Valley Junction High School in 1940.

She married John Lenig on November 15, 1950, in Cumming. They farmed with her father near Cumming before moving to Knoxville in 1954.

She enjoyed gardening with her husband and especially reading.

Eva was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose; a brother; and a sister.

She is survived by her husband, John; a sister, Audrey Riley of Des Moines; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia Fire Department.

Arrangements were made by Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.
