Funeral services for V. Genevieve Locker, 86, of Grinnell, who died on Sunday, October 29, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, were held on Thursday, November 2, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Rev. Del Dawes officiated at the services. Margaret Wheeler was organist.

Interment was at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Casket bearers were Jeri Brown, Lisa Bullock, Leroy Locker, Jarrid Mikel, Susan Mikel and Julie Sanders.

V. Genevieve was born on August 29, 1914, in Marion County, to Walter E. and Maude Huehes. She was raised on the family farm near Marysville. She graduated from Bussey High School.

She married Boyd W. Locker in Melcher on July 29, 1934. The couple moved to Grinnell in 1948 and she worked for a retail decorating store, Badger Implement and for General Telephone Company.

She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile-Netaker Temple #11.

V. Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Keith L. Locker; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Smith and Dorothy Hoy.

She is survived by a son, Daryl B. Locker of Roswell, N.M.; a brother, Curtis Davis of Lovilia; three sisters, Mildred Speck of Bussey, Edna Bonnett of Eddyville and Josephine Wallace of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church or Animal Lifeline and sent in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements were made by Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
