Graveside services for Dorothea Artelle Kimball, 74, of Knoxville, formerly of Cedar Rapids, who died on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held on Friday, September 15 at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Rev. Robert C. Smith officiated at the services.

Dorothea was born on July 27, 1926 in Polk County, the daughter of Beulah Mae King and John Harrison Walker. She attended school in Pleasantville and graduated in 1944. She later attended the University of Iowa for two years.

She married Leland Gay Kimball on April 23, 1948 in Des Moines. They lived for many years in Cedar Rapids where she was employed by Iowa Pipe. She later worked for 33 years at the University of Iowa Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. After their retirement, Dorothea and Leland returned to Knoxville.

Dorothea was a member of WICKS for many years.

Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents; husband and three brothers.

She is survived by one sister-in-law, Betty Walker of Des Moines; one aunt, Alice Walker of Pleasantville as well as many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements were made by Williams Funeral Home.
