Funeral services for Cora Hartgers, 94, of Pella, formerly of Sully, who died on September 14, 2000 at Pella Regional Health Center - Long Term Care Unit, were held on Monday, September 18 at First Reformed Church in Sully. Pastor Kevin Korver officiated at the services.

Interment was at the Sully Cemetery.

Cora was born on January 4, 1906 in Jasper County near Sully, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Moes) Olsthoorn.

She married Tunis Hartgers on February 19, 1931 at her parent's home near Sully. She lived most of her life in the Sully area and then in Pella for four years.

Cora had been employed as a meat cutter at the Sully Community Locker and was currently retired.

She enjoyed crocheting and quilting for her church. She was a member of the Third Reformed Church in Pella and a former member of the First Reformed Church in Sully.

Cora was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Melvin Hartgers; two grandsons, Brian and Gary Hartgers; a great-grandson, Mike Hartgers, Jr.; three brothers, Arie, Lambert and Henry Olsthoorn; and two sisters, Gertrude Swank and Anna Olsthoorn.

She is survived by her husband, Tunis Hartgers of Pella; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis and Barbara Hartgers of Newton, Harry and Marlene Hartgers of Pella and Vernon and Marge Hartgers of Sully; a daughter and son-in-law, Anna Mae and Arvin Van Wyk of Pella; 17 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Johanna Vos of Pella; and two sisters-in-law, Jeannet Olsthoorn and Anna Olsthoorn, both of Sully.

Memorials may be made to the Adult Discussion Class of the First Reformed Church in Sully.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home.
