Funeral services for Edna Isabell Goad, 94, of Pleasantville, who died Monday, June 12, 2000 at the Griffin Nursing Center, were held Thursday, June 15, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home. Pastors Carol and Leo Freel officiated at the services.

Interment was held at the Olive Chapel Cemetery. Casket bearers were Dolan Cowden, Bob Dale, Howard DeHeer, Allen Hancock, Richard Poole and Tom Wise.

Edna was born August 27, 1905 in Marion County, the daughter of Mary Ann Collwell and William Henry Allen. She grew up, along with her ten brothers and sisters, around the Olive Chapel area.

She married Akillis Foster Goad on December 24, 1928 in her grandmother's home.
The family lived in the Columbia area until moving to Beech in 1943 to farm. Edna enjoyed gardening, cooking, needlework and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed crafts and worked at a ceramic shop in Indianola for a few years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lane and Joan Goad of Pleasantville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Williams Funeral Home.
