Garnet Mae Beadles, 89, of Knoxville, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2000 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital. Memorial services will be at a later date in Ashland, Ill. at the Ashland Cemetery. The body has been cremated.

Garnet was born in Walla Walla, Wash., the daughter of Lewis Ricketts Wood and Myrtle Mary (Wilson) Wood, and raised in the San Diego-Los Angeles area graduating from Hollywood High School.

After marriage she lived in various places, including Bloomington, Ill., Marshall, Mich., Columbia, Mo., and Rancho Bernado, Calif., traveling with her husband who was a Regional Vice President for State Farm Insurance. After her husband's death, Garnett briefly lived in Prescott, Ariz. before moving to Knoxville in 1996.

Memberships included First United Methodist Church and Sarah Circle in Knoxville, and Order of Eastern Star in Columbia, Mo.

Garnett was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sr.; a daughter, Char Mae; four brothers, Lewis, Neil, Eddie, and Lloyd Wood; three sisters, Anna, Ruby and Lucille.

She was survived by a son, Dr. Charles Beadles, Jr., a daughter, Beverly Beadles, both of Knoxville; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were made by Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
