Funeral services for Henry J. Wassink, 80, of Otley, who died on Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at Pella Regional Health Center, were held on Saturday, November 3, at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery.

Henry was born on August 14, 1921, near Bussey, to John H. and Cornelia (Vander Kieft) Wassink.

He married Gertrude Roose on October 22, 1947, near Leighton. He farmed for 54 years near Otley. He loved the farm and enjoyed going to farm sales.

He was a member of the Protestant Reformed Church in Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Fanny Wassink; and three brothers-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Wassink of Otley; three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Rod Blackford of Hartford, Ruth and Harold Gorter of Otley and Greta Wassink of Carlisle; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Minnie Van Zee, Janet Van Haaften and Rose Van Essen all of Pella.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella or Pella Christian Schools.

Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Homes.
